|Archive Reception in the Searchroom|
Let us know when you would like to come in and we'll book you in the diary, if there is space available. You will be allocated a table in the Searchroom or the Orkney Room depending on your needs. If you just need a microfilm reader, these are bookable too.
Booking in advance means that Archive Staff can help to find which items will be most useful for your research and also reduce the interaction between visitors and staff during your booking. Any items you request before your booking will be set out on your table when you arrive.

Current Opening Times in Archive Searchroom
*Due to temporary staff shortages, there will be a few changes to the Orkney Archive service: We will be closed fortnightly on Saturdays and some of our regular weekly opening hours may be also affected.
Excess furniture has been removed in both rooms to allow for safe physical distancing. Face-masks (or coverings) are to be worn when moving around the rooms (unless medically exempt), but can be removed when seated. Tables and chairs will be cleaned before your booking.
